I have the following values in a column...
B13, B123, B1000, B23

In Impromptu when I sorted the values ascending I would get
B13, B23, B123, B1000

In Report Studio I'm getting the following
B1000, B123, B13, B23

Now I believe this is probably due to how Report Studio is interpreting the values, but I can't remember the format type I need to set it to to get it to sort like Impromptu.

Does anyone know?

No, not really.

What works in any case:

Define a new query calculation as:

Code:
cast(substring([variable];2);integer)

enable local processing on the query.
set aggregate behavior of the new query calculation to none. Set sort on the new object.

Now, all I have to find out is how to hide this in the report without losing the sorting :)

Okay, that seems to pretty easy too.

Under options inactivate the setting
'delete unreferenced query objects'

Now you can delete the query calculation from the report but keep the sorting.
