Hello All,

Suppose there are 4 tables
tableI 1 -->n table II n---> 1 table III n---->1 table IV
I need to create a report from two different tables(table I, table IV) where there is no link exactly between the tables. to create a link also there is no common identifier or common data item.

What excatly i need to do or where exactly i have to create a relationship so that i can build a report from table I and Table IV.
Please advise me

Thanks

Divya,
Without more detailed information, the best way to create links would be to use Report Studio's Query Explorer to link the tables.

Just how do you want to combine data from 2 tables if no common fields exist? Linking the tables as suggested will result in applying joins underneath (no different from joins defined in a proper model), as Cognos will still need to build SQL expressions..

Would a union work in this instance? I only bring it up because I had to do one recently. I needed one data item from one namespace that did not exist in the other namespace, so I ended up doing a union.
Not the most fun I've had, as you must make sure the data items are named the same, in the same order in your query, and are the same data type. Hope this helps.
