Hi,
I have a report that prints info for a single record from a form. I'm using the shrink and grow feature, as I have many memo fields that can be filled in or blank.

The Problem I'm having is when there is lots of info in some of the memo fields it puts page breaks in between fields that I would like to stay together.

Thanks
Dave

Dave002:

Because you are using memo fields, which can contain upwards of 64,000 charcters each, it's obvious you can sometimes have more information than will fit on one page.

Without delving too deeply, I would suggest you place all the fields you want to always be together near the top of the report and place the memo fields after them. That way if the memo fields contain sufficient text to spill onto another page, at least the other important info is all together on the first page.

But remember also, the Can Grow propertys of the memo fields can be dependent on one another. In other words, when you have 2 memo fields side by side on a report, and one of them has to grow, the other field will take up the same vertical real estate as the first. If the second field is relatively short, this will cause blank spaces under that field to match the vertical length of the first field.

So it might be wise to have the width of each memo field defined the same as the report width, and put each memo field under the one above.

And if you set the heights of each of the memo fields to, say 0.05", when any memo field is blank you will hardly notice the vertical space between the one above it and the one below it. Each will grow according to its needs.

HTH,

Vic
