I have a reports in MS Access 2003 that are slow to open in design view. The ultimate source for the data are very large linked tables. I saw another thread that suggested I make local tables with the resulting data, but in that thread the user is using an older version of Access.

Is this still the only solution? Is there not some setting that would minimize this problem?

Thanks

I would think the solution is still the same. You can create a local temp table of a few records and use it as the data source while designing. When you are ready to go live with your report, change the record source to the actual tables.
