Is there any way to make CRS work without using just port 80?

The reason for asking is that we have a customer with CRS XI installed on their server and 4 other (completely seperate) organisations/subcontractors logging into CRS to run various reports.

3 of the external organisations/subcontractors can log in fine with no problems at all, but the last one cannot even get to the login page due to firewall restrictions on their network.

A request has been made to the IT dept of this org to allow other ports to be enabled on their firewall, but the answer is No.

As far as I have been able to make out (and I am on the edge of my knowledge of networks now!) CRS needs several? ports to operate as intended and port 80 just won't work, but I thought I would just ask on here to see if anyone could suggest anything before I have to confirm the bad news to the customer.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
CRS ( like Enterprise) uses random ports to return info to the client, unless the ports to use are specified on the service's command line ( -requestPort 6402, for instance would use 6402 to send data out)..

There will need to be some ports open in that clients firewall for them to run 'On-Demand' reports ( although they should be able to get to the login page with just port 80 open - assuming your system is using the default web server port)

Many thanks for that confirmation - I thought that would be the answer, but it was worth asking!

Do you know if the offline viewer would be able to help this situation or not?

Hi,
Not sure, but if static data is OK, you can schedule the report to export to PDF and place it on your web site so only a browser would be needed to see the report's output.
