We have finally decided to move to Reporting Services, So I've installed it and started writing some basic reports. However, I've run into a security problem. In order for anyone to see my reports at the URL, I have to add them to the local administrators group on the RS server. I have obviously missed something in the configuration. Does anyone know what that could be?

here is how it works... ;)

Example on Windows Authentication

Setup your data source and tick the windows authentication.
Make your report and deploy it.

Go back to the db and give the rights as normal for the groups that can access the tables, procs or what not.

Now open IE and navigate to your report manager page
Mine is (default if I recall correctly)

I've seen ReportManager as the directory also

When you are in there go to your data source first in the "data Sources" folder and click the data source itself.

Select security on the left menu. Add as many "New Roles" as you need to follow suit with your windows groups. For regular users make them Browser level and if they use report builder (or will) give them that role also. hit Apply

now navigate to your report and run it. once it renders hit the properties tab at the very top and follow the same steps for the data source

Let me know if that fixes it

Thanks Ted,
I may have more questions for you in the future as I get deeper into this new adventure!
