Hi,
I need to modify this sale report that is running supper slow (25 mins). This report has a filter of Comp = "C" and trieve data for this fiscal period (march) and all the sales data for last year. This report read through 358,744 records.
Comparing to its sister report, which has the filter of the same date but for all stores ( comparable "C" and noncompareable store). This report read through 723,492 records, but only took 3 mins. Please help!!

Find 'Datebase' on the top menu, and choose 'Show SQL' - or something comparable if you are not using SQL.

Almost certainly, you'll find the date selection is not there. This means that the server does the initial sort but your own machine does the date selection. Presumably it's much slower.

If you can rewrite the date selection as an SQL command, that should fix it. Use SEARCH to see how to do this.

This is based on Crystal 2008. It always helps to give your Crystal version - 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 11, 2008 or whatever. Methods sometimes change between versions, and higher versions have extra options.

Please post your actual record selection formula (report->selection formula->record) and also the resulting query (database->show SQL query). It is likely that some clause is not making it to the query and therefore is being processed locally, as Madawc suggests.
