While running a report I am getting an error:

Method '~' of object '~' failed.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Did you recently install MSTR software? If so, you may have a bad install.

The error message can also be caused by a corrupt metadata and you should try running ScanMD on your metadata.

Both of the situations are described in MSTR's knowledge base. If you have access to their knowledge base, it should be the first place to look.

I have also had this error when running Desktop in 2-tier mode and exhausting memory on the ole local pc.

I have a report with country, licensee, calendar year in page by. there is a filter on Calendar year in the report.

Now when I don't include calendar year then for same country I change licensee from drop down and report is fine. When I have calendar year in the report and do the same thing then it gives the "Method '~' of object '~' failed." error.

Is it a memory problem? If yes why then is it happening when I have Calendar year in report only (do note I am not changing different year when report gives error)

Thanks

Double check to make sure taht your Calendar Year attribute is created correctly. Sounds like a corrupt MD.

I would suggest you check on the relationships among attributes on your report, especially their relationship with Calender Year. I've seen this happen when the relationship was set incorrectly. Note: the relationship may be indirect.

Another thing I would check is to see if you have embeded prompts used. If you do, try to get rid of this prompt, it may help too.
