Report requester parameters not working with sql92

I have recently transfered from sql87 to sql92 mainly because of the need to attach to a Progress 9.1c database. Since then I have not been able to set any report parameter except for date range ":enterstartdate - :enterenddate". This works fine however any other parameter like :enterserialnum where the field is of text type or say :enterdone where the field is a logical y/n all return zero records. This is with or without the date range.
Has anyone come across this problem? Actuate have been unable to provide a solution.
