So my company has finally stepped up from a single SSRS 2008 R2 instance to a clustered SSRS 2014 set of servers. Woohoo! I don't know all the specs for the cluster.
I was given the cluster primary node name and am currently working through any changes needed due to the switchover. The most critical complaint from my end users is the server address change has broken all their saved bookmarks.
Sicne this cluster is a short-term gap while we build a load-balanced SSRS 2016 cluster set, we decided to create an internal DNS-entry with a friendly URL that can be repointed to the new cluster when it is complete and the users should not notice much of a difference.
Here's my problem. We have a set of reports that are auto-run and distributed daily via email subscriptions. The subscription has checked the box that says "Include Link". This produces a link at the bottom of the email that looks like: The users can click on this and it takes them to the server to see the complete report or rerun/export/whatever their needs.
Since I am trying to obsfucate the server name to our friendly DNS-name, I am trying to figure out how to change that link formatting....or even if it is even possible.
Basically, if it says: I like it to say:
This is how they access the report from their web-brower with the new configuration and they love it. But the link in the report is confusing the users....
I have seen some references to changing the <URLRoot> tag in the rsconfig file. Is this correct? If so, does anyone have any examples?
I can only find references to this property but no examples of what it does and I want more info before I start making a bunch of changes to config files that won't do what I want.
Thanks for any assistance in pointing me into the right direction.
