Report "hangs" after adding certain number of fields from query

Hi all,

I am using Access 97. I have a query that pulls data from several tables to create one row of client data to produce a one page client report. Pretty straight forward and the query works great and returns the data I requested. As I built the report in the designer, I would frequently run the report to get an idea of it's look. Was working as planned. After adding a certain number of fields to the report from the query, the query/report freezes...and nothing else happens. I can let it run for hours and nothing happens. Hitting ESC quickly returns me back to report design view. I can remove fields from the anywhere in the report and execute...and it runs just fine. When I add them back, the same hang scenario occurs. Has anyone encountered this situation before? Thanks in advance for your help!

There is a limit to the number of controls on a report but I don't think this is the issue. Have you tried creating a new blank report and copying all the controls from the old to the new?

Duane,

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I tried that and I only have approx. 40 fields on the report. I got frustrated enough trying to figure it out that I just went ahead and created a subreport to display a portion of the data on the main report...works like a charm. One more item to add to that "Access Oddities" list ;-)

Thanks again for the response!
