I have users who may wish to open reports directly out of the interface, in which case the reports with parameters in the query (paramters are entered in a from) give an error message since the report was not call from the form, and so the form may not be open. is there a way to check if the date source in the report has a parameter or condition, and then open it before running the report for user to enter data?

There is nothing built into reports like a Tag property or an OpenArgs argument. What you will basically have to do is create a code module and a global variable. On your report's Open() event, check the global and see if your opening is authorized or not. Maybe, instead, you can check to see if the form is open using the IsLoaded() function (A2000+).

There are a bunch of ways to do this, now that you know that there's no built-in way.
