I have a report that is prompting for the same input [Enter Last Date of Month] several times. How do you turn the multiple prompts off and only prompt the user once?

Does the report have subreports?

What happens if you just run the query - do you get the multiple prompts then?

I expect Lilliabeth is on the right track with the "subreports".

My opinion of parameter prompts is to rarely use them. Use controls on forms to select your report criteria. There is so much more that you can do with a control on a form.

Yes, the subreport seems to be the culprit but no, the query runs normal with just the one prompt.

If you continue to use a parameter prompt for your subreport's record source, you will continue to get prompted for the parameter for each instance of the subreport.

Kick your development up a notch and replace parameter prompts with controls on forms.

I don't understand? I'm creating a financial report that includes current data as well as year to date data. I have a qGetActual and qGetBudget that pulls from a table and also includes calculated expressions. I then created qGetBudgetvsActual to combine the previous queries, [Enter Last Date of Month] and [Enter Plate Type For Cell]. This query limits records to date entered and all records previous to date entered for YTD. (Ex. If date entered is 03/31/05, query pulls 01/31/05,02/28/05 and 03/31/05.) This works fine for current month data. I then created qGetBudgetvsActualYTD utilizing qGetActual, qGetBudget and qGetBudgetvsActual to create YTD totals. My main report is working fine (qGetActualvsBudget) and my subreport is working fine (qGetActualvsBudgetYTD) except the user is prompted 3 times for date and plate. Suggestions?

I don't know how to make this any more clear. Each instance of your report and subreport will prompt for the parameters. If your subreport is in section that gets printed more than once, then the prompts will appear for each instance.

Kick your development up a notch and replace parameter prompts with controls on forms.

If you don't know how to use controls, here is a simple tutorial on Martin Green's web site
