Hi all.
When "previewing" a report, can the Preview Toolbar be suppressed leaving the user to scroll through the report instead of clicking from page to page?
Andy.

That doesn't make much sense. When you print preview the report the first page is displayed. The toolbar is the only method of moving from page to page with the native foxpro 'preview'. There is no way to supress the toolbar and allow the user to page down through other pages like you would in a pdf file. The foxpro print preview is a simple tool. If the users want to scroll through all the data then create a form with a grid that allows them to scroll from first to last record. Typically you use preview to get a feel for how it will look. Most would look at first page, then jump to sub totals and grand totals to verify. But if users are needing to check every page give them a grid then print from the grid once they know the data is accurate as needed.

Rob,

The toolbar is the only method of moving from page to page with the native foxpro 'preview'.

You can also use PgDd, PgUp and certain other keys to navigate. But, I agree with your general point. Why would you not want to show the toolbar by default (given that users can always close it if they wish)?

Andy,

I can only suggest that you open the preview window in your development environment, close the toolbar, then save a copy of your resource file to distribute with your application. That way, the users will not see the toolbar and will have no way of opening it. But it seems a bit drastic to me.

You didn't say what version of VFP you're using, but if it's VFP9, you could output the report to HTML and display it with a browser, or using the ReportListener, you can preview 1, 2, or 4 pages at a time (ala Word or Excel), but in that case you still have the toolbar. Not sure about removing the toolbar though. How would the user print the report?

Thanks for all your comments.
I think I'll just leave it the way it is.
Andy.
