Hi
I am in a situation where i need to improve the performance of the Webi reports which are taking 4-5 minutes and need to come down to less than or equal to one minute.

Please advise me in how to improve the performance of the reports.

One strategy is adding hints to the query of the reports but how do i do it in BO. Please advise.

Other suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Look into the universe where the reports run on.
There is a parameter that allows you to add a hint.
Of course this will have it's effect on a reports running on that universe.

I don't know WEBI, but if you can extract the underlying SQL that is used for the report, a DBA type should be able to describe the database navigation that will be used, and if necessary add an index.

What database platform are you using, on what operating system?

Reports are not slow. Queries are. You need to tune your database (indexes etc). If you need your reports to be faster, then you may need to build aggregate tables.

Adding hints to queries is OK, but it doesn't always work.

Also, check with Oracle. We just got a patch from them to fix a major bug in the Optimizer.
