I am trying to schedule a report to notify me throught e-mail URL rather as an attachment when the report is ready to view as an excel file.

I get the notification but when I click the URL it ask me to login into Infoview. We don't have infoview. How can I view the file without login in

Is there any way to get around this or guide me step by step to do this.

Any help is greatly appreiated

TIA,
RR

I cannot say for sure, but two things come to mind. If you are using a URL, then you would be looking at the instance of the report on the server, in which case you would need to view through Infoview. Second, (someone correct me if I am wrong) Infoview should be part of BO. Now whether or not it was set up, that is another question.

kray4660 - you are absolutely correct.

RR, if you don't have Infoview, how are you scheduling your reports? You have to have either BusinessObjects or Crystal Reports Server in order to get the specific email that you're receiving.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Thank you! kray4660 and Dell for you reply.

How I can I save the report output to a shared location on the network?

I guess our Infoview is not set up. Is the infoview part of the BO or do we need separate licence for it to be used?

My need is I need to run a report daily and send the report output to a user. The genrated output file is exported to excel and is ove 5GB when I use the URL notification it's ask for login information( which won't work in my case). Can I save the output to a share network location and the user can pick it up from there?

TIA,
RR

Yes. What tool are you using to schedule your report? If you have BO or Crystal Reports Server, you will be scheduling in either InfoView or the CMC. Depending on the version that you have, you will schedule the report to either a File location or "Unmanaged Disk" if those destinations have been set up on the job servers. Look for "Destination" when you schedule the report, not "Notification".

Thank you! Hilfy, We are using CMC to schedule. Does this file location "Unmanaged Disk" has to be setup on th eJob server before I could use it?

I tried to give the path in the Destination, but report fails and messages "Unmanaged Disk":invaild arugment.

I don't have access to setup the job server. How can one find if it has been setup or not?

Thanks,
RR

Yes, it has to be set up as a destination on the job server(s). You don't have to actually put anything in the path when configuring the job servers, just enable it as a valid destination.
