I'm using a query to get sum values for each column, but, the report isn't opening, giving me an error msg saying it "doesn't recognize the query expression". I've even tried using the expression builder to make sure the syntax was correct, but, for some strange reason, the expression showing in the error msg has extra brackets, as in:

[ReportQuery]![[TotG] ]

Help, anybody?

I don't think you can put a query into a textbox like that.
But there is another way to do what you want.
If you want sums on a report then let it do it not th eunderlying query.
Make the query retrieve the records you want but put the sum in an unbound text box on the report and use this.

=sum([yourfield]) [sig]
DougP, MCP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.[/sig]

Ok. I'll give that a shot. I'm pretty new at working queries and have been putting the expression in the Control Source, in Properties. Is this incorrect? I started with a wizard-designed report, and, have been modifying it. [sig][/sig]
