G'day,

I am getting an error message when I try and print an Invoice Order - Report not found. This has happened before, and all I had to do was replace the dictionary with an older version of it, and then it would print. This time though, it didn't work. Does anyone know why this error comes up, when the dictionary is in the right directory and the report was working fine this morning, all of a sudden? Is there any way to permanently fix it?

This is normally security related, make sure that if this is a modified report that all workstations are using the same version of the reports.dic.

I prefer using synchronisation code to ensure that a master reports.dic is copied to all clients rather than trying to share a single reports.dic on a server. Let me know if you want more info on how to set up an "Update Area".

Also, try denying access to the report and then granting it back to reset the security records. If running on v7.0 or v7.5, Advanced Security can identify and fix these types of issues on-the-fly.

I have had similar problems and corrected it by:
1) make sure everyone is out of Dynamics
2) rename/copy the reports dictionary
3) Start Dynamics (this will create a new reports dictionary with none of your custom reports)
4) Import the customer reports from the renamed file in #2.

VOILA

Seems like this happens to us every so often when we go from one version to another since someone a LONG time ago wrote some custom reports that the GP golks are not expecting in the conversion.

my 2 cents.

What would an update area do for me. Right now we use 4 citrix machines and point the master dics to each client but we point all of the modified forms and reports to the server so when a report or form is modified everyone hits it. Will this synchronization allow me to update all of the citrix machines. If so would it be better to have the modifieds pointing to each client or just to the server.

I've been getting this error alot since we upgraded from 6.0 to 7.5. I re-imported the modified reports, and even made more changes to some of them. The modified report will work in one company, but when I try it in another company I get Report Not Found. I re-set the security to these reports, and I still get the error. I have to go into Report Writer and make a tiny change (ie to a field size) and then it works. Strange.

Thanks!
Barb E.

Remember, that all of the modified reports will not update when you go from 6.0 to 7.5. Also, If you are using Advanced Security to reset your security you must make sure that if you change security in one company that you also do it in the other company. Security changes for reports or forms do not effect all companies, just the one your in. Don't know if this helps but just an FYI.

For Klewis:

Both Advanced Security and standard Security work for each user/company combination. If you are using classes, this will affect all user/company combinations for where the user belongs to that class.

NOTE: using Classes in standard Security will wipe out any user level changes when you roll down the class. Advanced Security automatically rolls down only the actual changes made to a class and so preserves any user level changes.

The Update area method is best used when you have a LAN with multiple workstations and does not have benefits for a citrix install. I have used it at sites where they have a combination of local workstations and a citrix box for off-site users.

For Jymm:

Please note that importing a report at the Report Writer level will not import any relationships you may have created. For V6 or later, try using the Tools >> Customise >> Customisation Maintenance to export and import packages.

Packages will transfer added relationships.

NOTE: Added formats are not transferred by either method.
