One of our users is having a problem with Oracle/ADI and excel. It seems to me like it's some sort of Excel issue, but I'm not too familar with Oracle so I'm really not sure at all.
When the user tries to run Report Manager from Oracle, instead of a report showing up, a blank excel file pops up. This has never worked for him since we upgraded to this version of Oracle a couple of months back.
The same thing is now happening when they try to run WebADI. A template is supposed to open up in Excel, and it used to work perfectly for him a week ago, but now all of a sudden the same thing happens, a blank excel just pop up instead of anything happening. No errors, just the blank spreadsheet.
He's using Excel 2003, but has both, Excel 2003 and Excel 2010 installed on his computer. When he goes to the add-in menu in Excel 2003, there's an add-in called "OracleBI OLAP," and when he tries to un-check it and then re-check it again, it gives them the following error:
"Initialization of OracleBI OLAP support was unsuccessful.(Ver 10.1.2.3 - build 10.1.2.3.0)"
He also tried to run ADI from a different responsibility and got the error "BIA-4040" which is "BIA-4040 OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-IN failed to extend an Excel menu during initialization. Further Initilization of the add-in has been terminated.
Cause: This is probably an internal error and is not correctable by the user.
Action: Contact Oracle Support Serivces via Metalink for further assistance "
Any help/suggestions would be really appreciated - Oracle support doesn't seem to be able to help in this case.
