Report looks fine, but query didn't finish (data missing)

We have Crystal for Developer 8.0 and on occasion a report will get silently kicked out of the database (Oracle 8) for a technical/ hardware reason. The only symptom in the report is something like: the alphabetical list only shows records to "M" but the report footer shows the totals (everthing is inaccurate).

From comparison it is clear that not all records retrieved...simply rerunning the report retrieves the full set ...without adventure.

Is there any way to make sure an error message is returned rather than appearing to finish as normal....when there is a transient network or hardware issue?

Any advice welcome.

Perhaps you have the no wait set in the ODBC Lock Timeout?

Otherwise I'd think that Crystal would warn about an unexpected termination.

An ugly way might be to have a subreport which does a count and you can compare it against the main report, I'd think it unlikely that 2 different queries would return the same data when you experience a network/database failure.
