report layout does not work disconnected from network 1

I have a standalone version of gm6 on my laptop. When I installed it, I was at work and my default printer was a network printer. I took my laptop home and was attempting to create a new report layout and found that GM hangs everytime I try.

Walked into work the next day, booted up on the network, and the report layout works fine.

I attempted to install another printer at home but this had no effect on the behavior.

Any suggestions or ideas?

It's possible that the report is saving which printer is the selected printer for the report and it's having trouble because of it. To these this out, clone the report, and, while connected to the network, change the cloned report's printer (in the layout mode) to point to the local printer and see if that helps out when you're disconnected.

Thanks. That was my next plan. It worked. I set up a local printer, actually Adobe Distiller, and, while connected to the network, pointed Goldmine at the local printer in "Setup Printer...". Everything worked fine even after I disconnected from the network. I could do layouts without any problem.

I guess not that many people run into it but the program shouldn't hang because it can't find the printer. Perhaps network printers are somehow different and it gets hung because it never times out or something. Also, the "Setup Printer..." dialog would not come up when I was disconnected from the network so I was not able to switch printers until the next day at work.
