Report is not grouping correctly

Hi,

i have created a report that is grouping on two fields. the first field is fine but the second field is not grouping correctly. The problem is that I have a field called compliance, this has four possible values : compliant, non compliant, not applicable and not applicable but compliant. In the majority of cases it works ok but where there is only 1 record in a group it is putting in with another group, for example it has but a not applicable but compliant in with compliant! I have tried changing the values to numbers and this makes no difference. In the query these are sorted OK.

Hope you can help - (ps I haven't used any code as this is not a strong point for me!)

Some questions...

The [Compliant] field that you are trying to sort by. I assume it's a text field?

How are the values assigned back in the form or table? Do they come from option group buttons, or some other method?

In the sorting and grouping for that [Compliant] field, are you grouping Each Value, or Prefix characters?

Have you checked the "sorting and grouping" for the report?
In design view of the report, on the menu bar, there is a button with a large parenth and two small ones, with four horz lines.
Set your "sorting and grouping" at this level. The heirarchy is from top to bottom.

Jim is correct. My questions were based on the assumption you had set Sorting and Grouping levels.

thanks for your responses, I had the sorting and grouping set OK , unfortunately I was having a very blonde moment and was using the wrong field - it only took me a day to realise!! Thanks again Emma
