Hi,

My boss has asked me to create a report which would give us any extra software added to our standard build.

I checked out and cloned the SMS built in report that views software installed within the C:\Program Files folder on a given PC but what I'd really like is to be able to view the same result but for a particular OU also with the computer name. I had a crack at this myself yesterday but just got tons of SQL errors.

Anyone know the best way to go: simple English would be great!!! ;-)

As my bessie bud Kev always says - Get involved!!!

What I would do is to create collections for each OU by using a Query based collection. The query should look something like:

select SMS_R_System.ResourceID,SMS_R_System.ResourceType,SMS_R_System.Name,SMS_R_System.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_System.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_System.Client from SMS_R_System where SystemOUName = "domain.ext/OU/SUB-OU"

Then change the properties for the report and define the report to show only the collection you want. There are already a lot of predefined reports that will allow you to see the software, you just need to narrow the report down to a collection.
