I am going out of my head trying to create a report heading! At the moment all the data is in an Excel spreadsheet, which I have imported into an Access 97 database. However, there is a lot of information that needs to be printed out in one go. I have set the page to be landscape, and I cannot fit it all on. The main problem is the headers of the columns, I need to put the text in vertically, as you can in Excel. I have screen grabbed the Excel sheet and cut and pasted it all together, but it's still to long for 1 page.

For example, the data in the table is either an R, X or similar 1 character abbrevaiation. However the headers can be like "MPI Top drive", or "ASNT LEVEL II - M.P.I". Therefore, I am wasting a hell of a lot of space for a one character data cell.

Any bright ideas before I lob a perfectly good laptop out the window?

I take it these headers aren't static, or you would have used bitmaps long ago.
Maybe this is a crazy idea, but what if you made a small bitmap for every letter and number in the alphabet, turned them sideways, and then use some VB to place them? I know it will be a real pain to figure it out, but it could be a useful function for a lot of applications. I'll take a look, and see if I can't think of a way.

I don't know how to actually rotate field headers vertically to left or right but you can set font to Courier and squueze the fields so narrow that characters go indivdually on top of each others. It is little harder to read than rotated text but saves space. And easier than bitmaps.
