Hi all,

Please i need help in my report and it's got to do with the title in the report.
I have this report that's based on a query. This query prompts for the dept and flight type and uses this to query the database.
Now the problem is i want to be able to display the dept and the flight type on the title of my report.

I'll appreciate any help you give me. Oysterbar ride to success. Keep Riding

Hi

Usual way to do this, is to have a form with controls to gather the query parameters, then use the forms controls (Forms!frmDialog!txtBox type syntax) to act as a criteria in the query, and as a source for a (header) control on the report Regards

Sorry, I don't understand.

If a form is not necessary . . .
Since the criteria is being used against a db field in the query why can't text controls, Dept and Type, be placed in the report header?

Falcon,
You can simply add the Dept and Flight Number to the query. Even though this will be the same for all records (e.g., Dept 12345 and Flight XYZ123), it will be added to your field list inside of the report. You can then place those two fields on the report header.

What Ken was trying to say is that many people use a form to have the users enter the criteria they need, and then pass those values via "filter" or by setting the criteria inside the query.

I wrote two FAQ's on each of the techniques. Here are the links to them:
Filter technique: faq703-2657
Query technique: faq703-2696
