Report generates Zero sized excel files in Upfront

Hi,
When I choose to run the report in Upfront with Excel format, Upfront gives error,
The file associated with this report cannot be opened. Please notify your Administrator.

When checked on the server it generates zero byte file. The same reports runs well with PDF format. Why is it happening ??
