I have an Office 2003 Excel file that has a workbook password. You have to type in the password to view the contents of the Excel file.

I have a user who wants to run a Crystal Report ( V10 ) against the Excel file.

The user browses to the data source by selecting 'Create New Connection' and selecting Access/Excel before browing to the Excel file and setting the file type to Excel instead of the default which is Access.

Without specifying a password, the user gets the error 'Logon failed. Could not decrypt file.'

When specifying the password in the '
Database password' box or the 'Session password' box I get
a 'Login failed' error message.

How can I access an Excel 2003 file with crystal Reports 10 when the Excel file is password protected?

Dazed and confused

I found this in a post in 2007 and it looked like it worked for the other person.

If you can open the Excel file in Excel using its password, then you could paste it to another Excel file without protection and read the data from this new file.
