Hello agian, I have a project I am working on that has two forms which are giving me trouble. Whenever I open either of the forms, some of the text boxes on them will not display, or will display in a different font and size than they are supposed to. Once this happens, ALL text on ANY form shows up different, with a different weight, size, and font, and also shows up highlited. It won't reset until I close the database, and reopen it. I have tried compacting / repairing (didn't expect that to help, but thought I would take a shot in the dark!), changing the font, using a different computer, nothing....

Anyone had similar problems, or know what might be causing this? I will post a screenshot later, I have never seen anything like this. It has happened in both forms and reports..........

Couple quick questions. What are your forms hooked to, queries or tables? does everything show OK when you are in the queries and tables? If you open the form in datasheet mode, does everything show OK? Are the fields a particular type format? Were the forms created through a wizard or through design mode?

I don't necessarily have an answer, I just wanted to give you some things to review and see exactly where something isn't jiving.

All are based on queries. I have no problems anywhere in the database except with these two forms / reports. Setup:

Form1 is a form for users to select a record, and fill in a couple text / combo boxes which are not tied to any tables or queries, just used to update values on the report.

Form2 is essentially a report, places items in a printable format. I only created it when the report with the same information was giving me grief.

Report1 is the original culprit.

form2 and report1 both cause (when opened in datasheet or design view)all text that I put in (not part of MS Access) to become bold, a different font, and highlighted. Once this happens, I have to close the database and re-open it to make it go away. These are the only 2 objects that cause this to act up. I have tried deleting items one thing at a time from each to find the source, but it seems that once it is triggered in a form or report, it doesn't matter if I even delete all the fields / controls from it, it will act the same.

I know I'm reaching here, just wanted to see if anyone else has ever experienced similar problems. The problem is not with access or hardware / computer probs, b/c I get the same results on other PC's on the network, and also when I copy the file to my home PC. Strange........

I had a user with the same problem, and it ended up that the chosen printer was a generic/text printer. We then installed another printer and wet it as the default. Everything is now working.

That is interesting. This application has 3 primary workstations we use for actually modifying the database, one of these has a generic / text printer due to some ancient software that requires that setting to print properly. The problem occured on this computer, but now gives me the same problem on other computers as well. I have since compacted / repaired, with no good result on any of the three workstations.

I should note that this only appears to happen in design time, when users access the database, everything is pretty typically locked down (no design view, using MDE, no D-Base window / shift bypass, etc.) This one is puzzling the heck out of me!

Hi

Try "selecting all" in the Access report design screen and pasting it into Word with reveal codes on. It looks like you have invisible control codes in the "FOR the....." control.
