Now running a REPORT FORM directed to a TXT file. The TXT file displays printer control codes as past of the file when viewed with notepad and when converted to a PDF.

When the report is directed to the printer or screen, the control codes are not displayed...

This is the first time this has happened to me. Previously, the TXT files only showed the text without the printer codes whenever you opened the file.

Is there a parameter that controls the displaying of control codes?

Any suggestions will be appreciated…

"The TXT file displays printer control codes as part of the file when viewed with notepad"[/I]

Of course.

Printer codes are intended to be 'digested' by the printer and used to control the printer's behavior and the printer 'knows' not to print them.

Notepad 'knows' nothing about these unique character string control codes and 'sees' them merely as more characters to display.

"Previously, the TXT files only showed the text without the printer codes whenever you opened the file."

I cannot say why this was not displayed before. Perhaps the specific codes being used where somehow ignored by Notepad or whatever you opened the file with.

Regardless, I'd recommend that your code should suppress including the PCL (Printer Command Language) codes when sending the 'report' to a text file and include them when your report is going TO PRINTER.

Good Luck,

Well, a quick update...

The listing of printer control codes in the text file started when I tried a range of printer drivers within the REPORT writer. When I finished my testing, I tried to reset the driver back to the default driver, which did not occur. After several attempts, I was able to reset to the Report Writer default driver which resulted in stopping the printer codes from appearing...

Thanks for the support....
