Hi All,

I hav a report that is set up to display in landscape view on legal size paper. The default printer is Adobe PDF, default location is My Documents\*.pdf. I have created 3 similar reports for this process, and they all open correctly. However, this one report gives me a message as follows:

access said:
This document was previously formatted for the printer on My Documents\*.pdf, but that printer isn't available. Do you want to use the default printer HP LaserJet 5?

This is of course throwing a wrench in my plans for automatically generating the report. Any ideas on why this would be happening for just one report? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Alex

Hello

What that means is the report was constructed and saved with the PDF printer being the default printer at that time. Then your database was moved or transferred to a location that did not have the PDF printer as the default printer, so Access responds as stated above.

The best thing to do would be open your report in design mode where the PDF printer is the default printer so as to reset the default printer. Then save the report again.

You may want to look in the forums for some VBA code procedures to do this automatically using the Print Object that has been added to Access 2002 and above.

Mark

Thanks Mark,

I had tried that and to no avail unfortunately. I did find out this morning that there is a 'default printer' option located in page setup, and someone had set that to a printer besides Adobe. Everything is running smoothly now, and hopefully will continue to do so as I am taking off from tomorrow through Friday.

When I'm back I will try and remember to take a look at the VBA procedures you speak of, that could make things a lot easier.

Take Care,

Alex
