Hello, Here is my question: The company I am in has created separate report dictionaries for each user. (not my idea but it works) So when I modify a report I need to be able to share with some but not all employees. Is there a way to copy individual modified reports to other dictionaries without damaging their files?

Thank you,

Dan Bigelow

Creata a package export from the users Great Plains system that you want to copy the modified information and then go to the system you want to update and import the package from that session of Great Plains. To export go to Tools>Customiz>Customization Maintenance, select the modified reports or forms to export and then hit export, name it. Do the same thing to import but hit import instaed of export.

My solution to this is a little more in depth, but is definately safer and easier to manage.

I have several login scripts that run when a user logs into the network. Within the loginscript I have the reports dictionary and several other files download to the target computer's directory.

You can have multiple login scripts that copy different report dictionaries down. You specify which login script to run via the user profile in either usermanager for domains (nt4) or active directory users/computers (win2k)

it's definately easier than having to visit each users' computer everytime you make a report change.

hope that helps,
jaz
