Hi All:

I am using Oracle Report Builder 6i to create a Oracle report. The output of this report will be an XML file.

My question is:

In a group object, how to control the actual sequence of XML elements output?

I am adding one new column (col_B) to a group and I want the XML of that new column next to another column (col_A). In the Data Model Edit window, I drag the new column col_B next to the col_A.

When I print out the actual XML output for this report from Oracle apps, the xml tag of col_A and col_B are not next to each other.

How to force the xml element output of col_A and col_B are next to each other in Oracle Report Builder 6i?

Thanks!

XML output follows the layout model, not the data model. Make sure you placed col_B next to col_A in the layout model. Their respective position in the data model does not matter as far as they are in the same group.

Is there a way to control the sequence of XML tag output without touch the layout model. In my company, we are using another form tool (Jetform) to design the output layout. The Oracle Report will feed the XML output to Jetform and Jetform will use those XML information to output the layout we need.

The reason we are using Jetform is jetform has some nice feature, such as print out barcode etc.

So we really don't care about the layout model of Oracle Report and we don't want to touch it at all.
