Report based on crosstab?

I have a report that refers to a crosstab query - I can get results - the snag is - if I put criteria in the underlying query (not the crosstab) and run it - if I type say customer1 - results appear - but if I type say customer2 - an error message appears where it doesnt recognise the crosstab as a valid fieldname -(even though the initial qry ran thru fine)
Needless to say - doing my little ole head in

Any advice greatly app
