Hi

We have our naples server holding all our Web datbase backends. We also have our web server which is hosted by an external company.
Assuming, I can connect to the live web server, via SQL, as an IP address (I think I can) I'd like to achieve the following.

Using Jobs as an example.
Previosuly using access we would ftp across job adverts from the naples database to the live web server and ftp across applicants from the live web server database to naples.
Now we are using SQL
Can i use replication
i.e. setup Naples as a distributor and a publication and then setup the web server as the subscriber - then use snapshot replication to synchronise the data - this would work for the job adverts.

for the applicants set-up the web server as the distributor and publication and naples as the subscriber and then synchronise the applicants.

Am i on the right tracks or miles off? i.e will it work !!

thanks

yes thats fine..

dont know about the following
for the applicants set-up the web server as the distributor and publication and naples as the subscriber and then synchronise the applicants.

if you can connect to the webserver you'll have access to this information so replicating it your own server seems pointless unless u have a valid point.... but yes yuo are goin on the correct tracks.... databases should really be on a seperate sever to the webserver and using cgi(ASP,perl...etc) as the middleware.... i find it can improve performance.

thanks
I'll have a go at that then

some users have an access front-end for viewing data etc. so for importing applicants, for example, I'll set-up a scheduler to run every morning so within access they'll see live data from the web server
