Why would anyone want Replication on a database in a multi-user environment?

As far as my knowledge goes, they wouldn't want replication if the multiuser environment has been set up correctly.

By correct I mean, a split database with Front-Ends distributed to each user. Those Front-Ends can be updated a number of ways. Tony Toews Automated FE Updater is one solution. Using simple batch files is another. Therefore replication of the Front-End is never needed.

Replication was designed for data. But why in a multiuser environment anyone would want to replicate the Back-End would be a mystery? If people say they want it because they want to back up the Back-End then my reply would be to copy the whole file itself as a backup, and theres a few threads on here about that.

So in brief, I dont think people have a legitimate reason for replication in a multiuser environment.
