I'm looking for help in diagnosing the cause of a huge amount of traffic between a local SQL server and that running on a web site. On Friday there was 1.3Gb of data transferred, on Saturday 2.2Gb!! Even help on how to log and trace network traffic from SQL Server would help. I'm paying out a fortune in excess bandwidth charges, any suggestions??

Thanks!

How is it transferred?
If transactional replication then are you updating vast amounts of rows on the source tables?
Have a look at the distributor to see what it is doing.

Maybe it's polling? Checking to see if the subscriber is up to date?

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy.

All are merge replicas. How often does SQL Server poll subscribers?

Thanks!
