I am attempting to setup replication (using sqlserver2k). CompA will be the publisher
CompB will be the distributor
CompC will be the subscriber

The three computers are not necessarily on the same LAN.

Does CompB (the distributor) "have" to be a domain controller?

Hi,

Not necessary, I'm doing replication on 4 different databases from different buildings some are SQl server 7 and others SQl Server 2k some are on a domain and others don't

In my case, as long as you can register the server of CompB and C on your CompA in the enterprise manager your in business, in other words if they have see each other , the key (in my case) when replicating I use on the autenthication options "Impersonate Sqlagent ".

again maybe there's a better way but this works for me.

take care
