I am configuring the rep server on win2000 server with active and standby SCCS 5.0 FP1 servers on win2003 sp1. I get towards the end of the rep server utility where I enter the server names and IP addresses of both the active and standby and I get a "failed to add active and standby servers. Check the wsinstall log file for errors". In the log file, I get the following error:

Creating logical connections
process returned error code 3
failed to create logical connections on REPW29945_RS
Failed to add Active and Standby servers

REPW29945 is the computer name of my replication server. Has anyone else ran into this. I just configured another customer last week with the exact same scenario and everything went great. This one is giving me fits.

Any thoughts
Rob

Found the solution.....

My active server name i.e. SYMPOSIUM was a subset of the replication server name i.e. REPSYMPOSIUM. This was confusing Sybase on the rep server. I found the published fix on the nortel solution search web site and made Nortel give me the designer patch DP0301. The solution search example shows the active server name and rep server name as starting with the same characters. My example had the names ending with the same characters. The nortel engineers were convinced this was not my problem, but they gave me the patch anyway. I uninstalled the rep server software and ran through the install/config again after installing the DP and it worked fine.

Hope this helps
