hi all,

i need to restore a copy of a live database to a dev machine to use for testing. The live database is being replicated to another server & so contains some metadata to do with replication - but i dont really want the test database to contain any of this metadata. Does anyone know exactly what 'stuff' gets added to a database when replication is turned on?

Cheers

The only way to effectivly remove all traces of replication from a database is to drop the publication\subscription. Replication adds not only msrepl tables to the database but also GUIDs to each table that participate in replication.

Hi, thanks for the reply. As the database is a copy of the live database, the distribution db would have no knowledge of it so there would be no publications associated with it....i assume...

that is correct. It does not harm to leave those ojects in the copy database.
