Hello all, extreme newbie here,, so sorry if it seems obvious. (I am really the junior guy here and just started snooping around the SQL servers since we keep having this issue)
We have two servers say Server A and B (SQL 2000), The replication is setup from A to B, a transactional replication,, We have been having intermittant connection issues, so every time a switch goes down for a second the replication dies.
If I try to just re-start it, it never does...
When I look at it from the subscriber, in SSMS, right-click on the subscription and click "view syncronization status" I get a
"Another distribution agent for the subscription(s) is running. NOTE: The step was retried the requested number of times (10) without succeeding. The step failed."

If I look at it from Enterprise manager, it shows running/initializing,, then after about an hour...
"The agent is suspect. No response in last 60 minutes"

So every time it goes down, the senior network guy just re-initializes it and it goes and generates a enw snapshot, freezing all of the applications that the users need to do their job. So it gets turned off and he re-tries the next morning, and sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't...
Right now it has been down for over a week and all of the reporting tools now are being run on old data...

Any advice on where to look as to why it keeps failing and any ideas on where to start to try and fix it would be greatly appreciated...
