I have never done replication of database and bit apprehensive going about. I have a couple of questions about replication. Hope someone can help.

What happens to the table in the replcated database when this table had originally a link table in the master. If the link is broken after replication, then this suits me. If not, what is best way to get around this problem when you are distributing database with a link table.

Second question, if the master is sitting on a network server, can I still distribute the replca to users outside network and still be able to update my database on receiving the replica periodically?

May I request for some attention on this?

Regards

I'm not clear about what you're asking in para two.

Are you suggersting that the master database contains LINKs to other tables ?
If so, thats uncharted country for me. I'd recomment a few experiments with demo databases of a similar structure to find out. - Then come back and let us know the results.

Once you do replicate you can distribute the replicas to the far corners of the earth and you can, if you wish use your Replication Master as a working database as well.
Then gather the replicas together again and re-synchronise.
The functionality I think you are describing is exactly what replication is there for. If the replicas were to stay part of the network there would be little point going to the effort of making replicas.

Thanks a lot for reassuring me about the functionality. Re your suggestion about experimenting with linked table, yes, I thought I should have done this first and then ask. Perhaps I will do this and share my experience soon.

Cheers

We can ALL learn from the experimental results of others. I look forward to seeing your results.
