Hey guys..

I am trying to create item codes for products. These products will be uploaded to a website and since their are so many products I need a way to create random item codes that will never be duplicated. What better way than to use Replication ID for the product code field. Problem is it does not upload to the website, instead of the code it uploads as question marks.

So I am wondering, is their another way to create random item codes on the fly similar to using Replication ID. It would be great if the code was a max of say 15 characters if it is possible to set that. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Keep in mind that "random" does not mean/guarantee unique. . .

Often this is done by assigning the "next" number which is stored in a tbale and incremented as each is taken. These next numbers may be quite simple or as elegant as the design requires.
