Replication has removed all email from one account

We recently installed a second domino R5 server for a blackberry service, all is set setup and runs fine apart from when doing a manual replication.

When this is done it removes all email from all the Managing Directors email folders. All 50 other users are unaffected.

I am relatively new to domino, firstly any ideas how to stop this from happening, and secondly is there anyway I can retrieve these emails? Luckily he prints most of his emails and deletes them so we are only looking at about 10 emails he received today, so no backup.

Are you using full replicas on the BES? Or are you just replicating the State DB's? Let me know.

As I say I am pretty new to Domino, my first look at it was a few weeks ago and with book in hand managed to get this second server running, I did a manual replication and vodafone had the BES software running and it has run ever since. I know I should be scheduling replication but have not done that yet. So in answer to your question I doubt I am using full replicas, all I have done is a manual push/pull replication with the BES server. I added in some new users thats why I did another manual replication. I know this is the cause of the MD's missing emails because the same thing happened when I did it the first time round.

The BES doesn't use FULL Mail DB replicas. It uses "state" DB's. This is the approach we took, but I think the documentation provides a few methods. Are you using off-line synch? If so, I would tell your users it doesn't work very well. We have opened tickets with BlackBerry and they have said it's a work in progress. Maybe this is your issue?
