Hi,
In the miscellaneous agent section in SQL Server replication there is a expired subscription agent runs always. The status it reads 'retrying'.
Can please someone explain to me about this? Is this impacting the perfromance of the server? Is there a way to stop it?

Thanks in advance,

Rushdi Basir

Is this sql7 or 2k?

This is just a job agent that cleans up expired subscriptions for sql server. Mine is set to run once a day. look at the job history. see if it is failing or succeding. if its working, just change its frequencey to something like once a day when few users are on.

Potentially its impacting preformance, but its likely neligable.

Hi,
We use SQL 2k. I checked the history and it's failing. I have left the default schedule which is set to run at 1 am everyday. The status displays 'retrying'.

Thanks,

Rushdi

Ok, do show step details for the history and see why it is failing.

Hi,
The job failed because of the following reason
Unable to connect to SQL Server '(local)'. The step failed.
I don't understand what 'local' means. Is this the MSDE server it's looking for?
Now, I checked the configuration of the distributor, publisher and subscriber and in the subscriber and publisher tab, The 'local' is defined but it's not checked.
What will happen if I remove the schedule?

Thanks,

Rushdi
