A month or so ago I set up and configured a replication between two databases on the same server. It worked fine for weeks/months. However, I went in to check it and for the past week or two, it has been failing with the message “ An exception occurred in the Distribution subsystem”. Many people use the Server so tracking down what has changed is impossible. One thing I do know is I put a password on the user account that owns the schedule.
I have dropped the subscription (pull) and started it again it has not worked. I have ran it from one machine and on the sever and it is still not working. Any ideas

Cheers

Anybody have any ideas? Its a Pull Subscription running off a snapshot publication.

Stunner01225, I had a similar problem with my PUSH snapshot this week. I had the same error message, but followed by 'Timeout expired' This is SQL Server 2000

I (assume) mine was just caused by the subscriber server being too busy to receive the snapshot data because without changing anything it suddenly started working.

If yours is timing out, try running the snapshot and distribution during off-hours, if there are any such hours in your installation.

good luck. John
