replication conflicts in MSysAccessStorage

We have a replica-set created in A2002 - this has worked fine for years. Some clients have now been 'upgraded' to A2003. When these clients synch with the Design Master, it generates conflicts in MSysAccessStorage.
According to MS, this is a supported scenario (!).

Does anyone have any insights or similar experiences to share? Thanks,
