We have replication setup on SQL Server 2000 on a Windows 2003 machine. I need to set something up so that if there is an error, someone gets notified (preferably two people). I go into SQL Server everyday and check the replication monitor, but of course my day off was when we had errors.
I have been trying to figure out the best way to do this, but am very confused. Everything I attempt to do seems to require a mail profile setup. I see that there are replication alerts, but the only options are pager, netsend and email.
Are there any other options to notify someone of replication failures that don't include setting up a mail server. I have tried playing around with setting this up (tried POP3, but then when I go to SQL Mail, I never see the profile), and am rather confused with which mail server to use, etc.
Anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to go about this would be?
