When setting up multiple Citrix servers in the same farm, is there a way to replicate the application software installations from server to server?

Right now, we are manually installing each software application on each server. So once we install an app on one server, is there a more efficient means to install the apps on the remaining servers?

Installation Manager does the trick for me - but it's an add-on for MF1.8, and only comes with XPe.

I think there are 3rd-party products that do similar things, but I haven't tried them.

If your company cannot invest in IMS (Installation Management Service) then your only other affordable option is scripting the application install. Also, you should check the documentation of each application to look for an Un-attended install that most vendors include in their application package. (i.e. Microsoft has a script you could use to automatically install Office 2000).

Then run the script on each server. This is still somewhat manual in that you must execute each package on each server, but you would not need to answer all the questions during the install.

To make it even cooler, you could also create a batch file that checks for new applications every night and installs them automatically if it hasn't done so already.

In XPe it's IM - Installation Manager, and it comes bundled.

Good tip, though :) CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
