Hi

I am using Crystal 8.5 accessing a SQL database.

I am trying to graph ER length of stay by splitting it into the various sections of:
- triage to registration time
- registration to physician assessment time
- physician assessment to decision to discharge time
- decision to discharge time to patient leaving the department

There are electronic times for all of these and the measurement is in minutes.

What the Excel "waterfall" charts would do is create a column called "blank" and the actual times for the above categories.

Blank #1 would be total ERLOS minus the calculated triage to registration time. Blank #2 would be Blank1 minus registration to physician assessment time etc.

So what the concept is that you would do a stacked graph and then the "blank" data is transparent so that it looks like a waterfall.

Is this able to be replicated in Crystal? Thanks.

Hi,

A Waterfal chart is not unique to Excel. It can be constructed with any chart application that has horizontal bars.

Here is how the chart source data needs to be structured.

Start Date: The MIN start date will be the min axis value.

Duration1: this is usually an empty bar

Duration2: this is the duration of the first visible bar.

You can code different colored bars also, by making the color bar you want displayed have a duration and the other color(s) with ZERO duration.

Hi Skip

Thanks for your reply but I was hoping for more detail, using my example, how I would replicate it in Crystal. Can you help with that?

Thanks.
