Does anyone know if there is a utility that will replicate a tomcat instance from one server to another? I have a client who is setting up multiple tomcat instances in a clustered environment. What I am looking for is a way to replicate his settings from one server to another when he creates a new instance.

Do you actually mean "replicate the settings" or something else ?

All config settings are controlled in the $TOMCAT_HOME/conf directory and within the specific start options in $TOMCAT_HOME/bin.

FTP ;)

Automated? Not that I know of, however in any maintainable environment you should have an installer that allows for source (or at least binary) based replication of the entire package.

We run clusters of 10-15 servers and for each application we deploy we maintain an installer. This allows for quick replication of servers as well as fast sandbox building for developers.

I highly recommend to take the day or two it will take to create a universal installer for your app, it will pay for itself over the years the app is deployed.
